+ Brief To add embellishment onto a prototype garment using non-stretch LED e-yarns. The decoration had to be placed on areas where movement was required, such as the shoulders and bodice. The final garment was to be displayed at high-profile wearable technology and fashion events so that influential specialists become aware of the new technology.
Keywords and inspirations given were: Glamorous, fantasy, ethereal, floaty, contemporary, visionary, otherworldly, communication through space and sound waves
+ What we created The result was the creation of a unique dress that has e-yarns incorporated into the decorative surface embroidery. There was a need to show off e-yarns in well-crafted applications that demonstrated the way in which they provided an excellent method of incorporating electronics into textiles. I used Cord manipulation and couching, using a mix of LED yarn with cotton and silk cords with beading to achieve the desired effects.
